The Consejo Regulador del Tequila A.C. (CRT) is a civil entity that brings together the various participants in the Agave-Tequila chain, such as agave producers, tequila manufacturers, bottling companies, distributors, marketers and government agencies. Founded on May 17, 1994, this organization operates on a non-profit basis.

One of its main responsibilities is to protect the Tequila Appellation of Origin, both nationally and internationally, to assure consumers of the authenticity of the product. In addition, it generates timely, accurate and valuable information for the Agave-Tequila production chain, thus contributing to the development of a more solid and efficient industry.

The CRT is approved by the General Directorate of Standards of the Ministry of Economy and is accredited by the Mexican Accreditation Entity A.C. to perform functions as an Inspection Unit, Testing Laboratory and Certification Body. It is also authorized as a Greenhouse Gas Certification and Verification Body, a recognition granted by the PROFEPA (Federal Attorney's Office for Environmental Protection).

This approval and accreditation allows us to work effectively in the supervision and regulation of the tequila industry, guaranteeing compliance with quality standards and promoting sustainable practices that benefit all the actors involved in the production chain.

The Consejo Regulador del Tequila, A.C. considers it essential to perform its functions with total impartiality and transparency, so that the decisions made do not harm any of the sectors that make up this agribusiness. We believe that an equitable and transparent approach is essential to maintain trust and collaboration between agave producers, tequila manufacturers, bottlers, distributors, marketers and government agencies.

CRT staff must be fully aware of their roles and responsibilities, receive the necessary training and have adequate material resources for the efficient performance of their duties. It is also vital that the performance of their activities be aligned with the achievement of organizational objectives and compliance with current ISO standards: 17020, 17025, 17065, 17065, 14065 and 17029, applicable to the agency. Continuous training and access to modern tools are essential to ensure that staff can carry out their work effectively, accurately and responsibly. In addition, the organization is committed to periodically reviewing and updating its procedures to adapt to new realities and challenges, always ensuring exceptional quality service and maintaining the CRT's position as a leader in the regulation of the tequila industry.

Pro Integrity Policy


The Executive Secretariat of the Federal Government, through the National Anticorruption Secretariat, and the Government of the State of Jalisco, through the State Comptroller's Office, launched the "Pro-Integrity" program. In 2023, the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT) received this distinction for its commitment to have personnel and work areas that follow clear guidelines to eradicate any form of corruption.

CRT PRO-INTEGRITY POLICY

At the Tequila Regulatory Council, a firm and clear policy is established: "We categorically prohibit bribery and corruption in all its forms." All members of the organization are committed to implementing, complying with and maintaining Pro-Integrity procedures, in line with the provisions of current legislation on integrity and anti-corruption.

This badge reflects CRT's continuous effort and commitment to ensure an ethical and transparent work environment. The Pro-Integrity policy not only focuses on complying with the law, but also on promoting a culture of honesty and responsibility among all members of the tequila production chain. CRT strives to maintain practices that ensure honesty in all its operations and business relationships. The organization is committed to the continuous improvement of its internal procedures, the constant training of its personnel and the adoption of innovative technologies and solutions to prevent any act of corruption.
